The Creative Bureaucracy Festival is more than just an annual event! To make the biggest possible contribution to empowering public servants, revitalising bureaucracy, and strengthening democracy across the globe, we are supporting the emergence of regional communities of practice. We want to help to spread the word on creative bureaucracy as far and wide as possible to unearth public innovators, enable them to join forces, and give them a stage for sharing good practices and aligning their system shifting work.
Do you want to join the movement and help to bring our vision to life in your region? Then let us introduce you our Creative Bureaucracy Festival Hubs!
What is a Creative Bureaucracy Festival Hub?
Creative Bureaucracy Festival Hubs take the spirit of the main event in Berlin and transport it to other places across the world. We help local partners to organise Hubs at a country or city level with the aim of making it easier to get creative bureaucracy conversations and action off the ground.
Creative Bureaucracy Festival Hubs are brought to life by local partners, supported and guided by our core team in Berlin. The central element of each Hub should be an annual or biennial in-person event for 100+ creative bureaucrats and their allies. This event can include hybrid or fully digital programming elements. Further community engagement and convening formatting throughout the year is warmly welcomed if local partner capacity allows. The activities of each Hub can take place in any language(s) appropriate to the region in question.
Invitees of a Creative Bureaucracy Festival Hub event should represent a varied mix of innovators across disciplines and organisational boundaries who are engaged in the development of a thriving public sector. We welcome content and approaches that are fresh in thought, diverse in style and “constructively anarchist”. While challenges can be acknowledged, it is important that the public sector and above all public servants are respected and painted in an empowering light. For further guidance on how we define “Creative Bureaucracy”, see our selection criteria.
The Hub can take place at any point in the year so long as it doesn’t coincide with the main Festival in Berlin – in 2023, on 15 June.
How can my region become a Creative Bureaucracy Festival Hub?
Easy. If you consider yourself a potential partner host and would like to get the ball rolling for your country or city to become a Hub, all you need to do is to get in contact with us.
